macOS 15.1. apparently added privacy indicators that are shown even if the menubar is hidden. Most notably, you use a sketchybar alias item, you are effectively always screen recording, resulting in permanently having a purple dot added to your screen.

And yes, this dot is also displayed in fullscreen mode.

As far as I can tell, there is no setting to remove it, and there is only some convoluted method to remove the dot from external displays.

So I was wondering if sketchybar can do anything about this, and if not, if anyone maybe knows a workaround?

While this is strictly speaking not a sketchybar bug, sketchybar users are the people most affected by this, since we are the ones you a) have the menubar permanently hidden and b) sketchybar effectively uses permanent screen recording.

If you are okay with turning off SIP then this will remove the dot: https://github.com/cormiertyshawn895/RecordingIndicatorUtility

Or you can change it's color without turning of SIP with https://lowtechguys.com/yellowdot/
