Failing to create a new project

When I run the command hugo new --kind project project/abc, I am receiving the following error message:

What is it that I am doing wrong?

Please provide some context... Which template are you using? Can you link to your GitHub repo? Does your site build successfully without running that command?

I found the problem -- it was appearing because I had links in authors metadata. While they would compile previously (in 2019), they are not supported now. Removing the links removes the problem.
