Now that you made me notice the double "a", I found myself liking Maurizio. |
Fine by me. |
changing the name don't bother me, but i don't see why "JuliaAstro" is that awkward. |
and chances are that "AstroJulia" will be referenced as astrology than astronomy with JuliaLang. just a thought. |
It does seem the case that there are several astrologers on the internet named julia. There's an astrojulia twitter account and both an astrojulia and astrojulia1 blogspot account. However all the domains astrojulia[.org, .com, .net, .io] are available. JuliaAstro didn't seem strange to me either, and it matches almost all other Julia orgs, with the exception being BioJulia. I was surprised how many people favored AstroJulia. |
9 years too late, but I wholeheartedly support the community being called AstroJulia. Is it too far gone to change now? |
For lack of a better place, I'm putting this bikeshed in the website repo.
Some people I talk to get hung up with the name JuliaAstro - the adjacent "a"s at the end of "Julia" and at the start of "Astro" are awkward. I just took an informal audience poll at the end of my lightning talk at JuliaCon and there was a clear preference for the name "AstroJulia" over "JuliaAstro", by at least a ratio of 2:1, possibly 3:1. I don't have a super strong preference but I'm starting to think AstroJulia would be better.
I think it's not too late to change the name if we really want to. It would be a bit of a pain, but better now than later! What do people think?
