I'm not an expert but you can go to the folder where you install Auto-GPT, inside the folder look for another folder called "auto_gpt_workspace". In there you can place the pdf you want it to parse and remember the file name for e.g. readthis.pdf. Then in your prompt in Auto-GPT somewhere in the goal or the role you can just mention it to read the file readthis.pdf and have it summarize it or whatever according to your needs. |

I also want to do this, got the same error and maybe got past it by creating another folder auto_gpt_workspace inside the original one (it seemed to add an extra path), but it doesnt read the pdf: Command read_file returned: Error: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xe2 in position 11: invalid continuation byte |

I haven't had a chance to try this, but there is a section of the README.md on pre-seeding:
"Memory pre-seeding allows you to ingest files into memory and pre-seed it before running Auto-GPT."
Sounds like a great place to start.

Same problem here. I guess we need a library to read PDFs

I'm just shootin the shit here, but did I imagine reading somewhere that the 3.5 model has to handle documents, or is that a thing?

Good evening everyone so to ingest you need to do the following, I managed to get it to work if you have the files as .txt files in utf8 format/encoding The DIR path is relative to the auto_gpt_workspace directory, so (https://github.com/Significant-Gravitas/Auto-GPT#-memory-pre-seeding) ~ source is there I Hope that helps |

I explained to him where to find the PDFs and asked me to put them in auto_gpt_workspace, now he tries to use "read_file" command with mode: rb, but gives me this error: |

I hate to give up on Auto-GPT, but this process worked really well and handled my documents in native PDF. That is, I didn't have to convert them myself.

I have a slew of technical documents that I would like to have ChatGPT ingest so that I can ask questions about the content. In another forum someone said that this was possible, saying:
for that I would take all of your documents (chunk them up so each chunked document is less than some max token limit). Then you can get text embeddings for all of the docs. Once you have the embeddings, you can add them to a vector db (along with the raw text) and then you can use the vector db to grab relevant information to add to the context. (You embed a search-query/prompt and the most similar/relevant documents will be fetched from the vector db)
I've gotten Auto-GPT to run successfully, but don't know how to go about using it to facilitate this process. Any ideas?
