Recently, link to the website makes it very slow; would it be preferable/possible to drop the dependence?

I experienced the same issue recently, and changed my config file to rely on unpkg instead of bootcdn (see my reply here).
This seems to be a valid quick fix until bootcdn works again.

The issue is fixed as reported in your reply -- as mentioned my Mi Note 7/Firefox appeared to be the only place there is no issue with cdn.bootcdn.net. Thank you!
