Are endianness tests meaningful?

The Zicsr* endianness tests write and read with various endianness. However, I am not sure if the ImperasDV reference model actually checks the results are correct, or simply plays back what the RTL reports. Therefore, I'm not yet sure if other checks are necessary to determine that endianness works.
