Monitor Keeps disconnecting and reconnecting when connected to my HDMI port

Hey guys! I have a slight issue: so I have my monitor (HP Compaq LA 2405wg) connected through HDMI to my Mac (Macbook Pro 14") where it goes through an HDMI to DVI cable, then goes into the monitor, I accidentally chose through DCC input control VGA instead of DVI, and now whenever I connect my monitor to my HDMI port on my mac, it keeps connecting, then disconnecting, then reconnecting, etc etc. The monitor stays connected when I plug the monitor into an HDMI port on my USB dongle. How do I fix this issue so that when I plug the HDMI cable into my computer's HDMI port it just connects and doesn't disconnect?

This seems to be some kind of connection or display specific issue. Maybe if you changed the input source on the monitor itself or did a reset it would help? Sending a DDC input source command is a one-off event so if it caused some kind of firmware related issue with the display, you can only fix it at the display side.

Thanks for the suggestion, somehow the problem managed to fix itself overnight without me doing anything weirdly, next time I have this issue ill make sure to try your suggestion. Thanks for your help!
